This is the first Jaywalker book and my first read of Joseph Teller. The question is, whay did I wait so long?? Walker, attorney, whose name has become Jaywalker, to almost everyone. A very highly regarded criminal attorney, who wins by any means possible He is allowed to finish ten cases.
A murder case with rich older husband and young young wife who is accused of killing him. This will be a very tough case. Teller brings us deeply into the case using a unique court room style.

I will certain keep reading in this series. One person found this helpful. Mass Market Paperback Verified Purchase. I have read many "lawyer novels" but I can honestly say that this ending absolutely stunned me. Without giving away too much of the story, this is about the murder of a billionaire by his very young wife, who appears to be the only suspect.
Her attorney, Jaywalker, represented her in the past on a lesser charge, and now is representing her on the murder charge. Teller, as a former criminal defense lawyer turned author, gives lots of details about criminal law, judges, juries, etc. I think you will find it a fascinating read! He doesnt have to keep telling us. If its that bad why should I keep reading! Stop beating me over the head with your despair just to show me how brilliant you are at the end. That just sucked all the drama out. Could have been 70 pages shorter.
But, finally the last 50 pages or so got the story moving along. This book grabbed ahold of me on page one and didn't let go. I finished it in a number of hours to the exclusion of almost every other activity over the Labor Day weekend. I love court thrillers, with all their "I objects" and "if it please the court" dialog.
The Tenth Case
I love the way the trials zig and zag and know that there will be surprises along the way. And it seems, nobody does it better than Teller. His legal knowledge is formidable and his ability to weave it into a compelling plot is impressive. The main characters -- Jaywalker and Semara Moss -- are memorable and realistic. The only thing that bothered me was the ending, about which I'll not go into detail.
It's not that the ending was terrible -- it just didn't measure up to what I deem a very strong, very riveting plot. Teller, on the basis of the two novels of his that I have read, has become one of my favorite authors.
