I'm visualising some thick padding going on the floor that should protect it pretty good, need to look into it more though. Damn these things work great!!! I had been using DBs suspended by cables in the past, but after discussing different options with BigToddy, I remembered a past post by BlueRain in regard to her free-spotter barbell. Fortunately the man behind the product "Sherm" is a member here as well and was very helpful in answering my questions. The reason I suspend my dumbbells is because I love working out to failure, and my home gym is on the 2nd floor of my house.
Dropping a heavy DB is loud as hell and shakes the whole house, so that's not an option for me.

Plus I wouldn't want to beat the hell out of my equipment anyway. I used them for the first time this weekend. They worked great for Seated Shoulder Presses. They work incredibly well!!! The most I've loaded so far was 90LBS each and they held firm and tight. Still no sign of them giving out.
