    This means when you read a description and it lists a rapid as Class IV you have no idea what to expect. This book is extremely outdated and there are better options available. One person found this helpful. This book is a fantastic resource with almost everything you want or need to know about the areas covered. My only criticism would be that the maps could stand more detail, and be smaller scale.

    Regardless, it clearly identifies the access locations for rivers, all the major rapids, and how to go through or get around them.

    • I highly recommend it for anyone interested in paddling in the western Carolina's. Actually now know the author and he hand carved a walking stick for my husband who does trail work in western NC.
