I just finished reading this book about a week ago and I must say I hated it when I first bought it.
I tried over and over again to get past the first couple of chapters BUT I usually have a lot of down time at work so I decided to give it a try and it wasn't a bad book to be honest. I only gave this 3 stars for one I felt like there wasn't enough back story or character for Ross. The entire situation with Asha happen to fast and I don't feel like there was enough detail.

I thoroughly enjoyed Asha's character but I truly felt the story was rushed after everything started falling a part between Lisa and Ross. I really wouldn't recommend this book but it is and ok read. Jun 17, Tangee rated it it was amazing. Not only does she open your eyes to each side of the story but through character growth and rawness you actually get closer to each character and become invested in this novel. I will recommend this novel to anyone that needs to dig a little deeper within self. This novel definitely allowed me to look at my own shortcomings as a person and in a future relationship perhaps and how I can mold myself from my flaws.

She has proposals of marriage and secret lovers, ambition and optimism, but then her life is turned upside down once more by wartime deaths. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Yet this slight narrational arthritis, creeping upon her naturally with age, is compensated by the gripping tale she has to tell. Because it is all there, running parallel to her personal journey of love and loss: Millicent is not political, nor even that social; she is not a romantic heroine but a sometimes petulant survivor.
And this is the charm of the document - being private it is honest, and being honest it is often selfish and self-regarding. The emotional outpourings are frequently petty, while great griefs such as the loss of a lover in the war are recorded simply by blank pages. As readers we yearn to know the whole story, yet true life is maddeningly full of such missing explanations.
And this is the fascinating record of such a life. In fact, there is only one problem with Forster's wonderful find - Millicent King was not dead by the time of publication, for the brutal reason that she was never born.
