Therefore said he unto them, the "Harvest" truly is great, but the labourers are few: All Rights Reserved Privacy Policy. I love the drama of London during those times. The division beyween the 'haves' and the 'have nots' was vast. People lived by their wits in a hard, uncaring and rough world. Crime was rife and highwaymen were common, and hanged quite often too. I think that the author has captured the flavour of this time in the past quite well, and I look forward to reading more in this series. Jan 06, Allyn Nichols rated it it was amazing.

A great first full length tale of Highwaymen, honour among thieves and all with a supernatural twist.

Fantastic characters and a solid plot make this a must read. Can't wait for the next adventure. Dec 20, Claudia rated it it was amazing Shelves: A historical tale that will take you to the s, and walk you through the lowest places in society along with Shanklin. The plot is marvellous constructed, and if you get how the two plot-lines would merge before the end, you're way smarter than me. It came as a complete surprise, and yet, it makes perfect sense, that's how well it has been done. A suspenseful ride with interesting characters and very well written this is a book that will not let you down.

I got an ARC for this b A historical tale that will take you to the s, and walk you through the lowest places in society along with Shanklin. I got an ARC for this book, and you can't imagine how happy I am for that.

This is a voluntary review, done by sheer giddiness at such a wonderful read. Dec 20, Katie Thompson rated it it was amazing. Intriguing, entertaining, and just a touch of twisted.

Oct 08, louise conquer rated it it was amazing. A brilliant tale indeed. I thoroughly enjoyed this book i couldn't put it down haha. A few really unexpected twists. I loved it ,thankyou. Jun 06, Allan Boroughs rated it it was amazing. Harvest of Souls is a book for those who like their history unvarnished. Sharper than a cutlass to the guts, grimmer than a spell in Newgate and tenser than a hangman's rope on the Tyburn Tree - it tells the tale of Samuel Shanklin, highwayman, worried parent and all round miserable SOB.

Samuel is not likeable but he is relatable and we are quickly drawn into his tales of robbery, gang rivalries and unrequited love for the posh bird he once held up in a stagecoach. Shanklin's story is told in pa Harvest of Souls is a book for those who like their history unvarnished. Shanklin's story is told in parallel with that of Charlotte and Jack - a brother and sister harbouring the dark secret of an increasing obsession with the satanic and the two stories collide in a satisfying finale of blood, gore and fire.

This is a ripping yarn of the first order and probably not for fans of BBC2 costume drama - it's a whole lot grittier and more real than that. Feb 18, Nyx rated it really liked it. With 18th century London as a back setting, "A Harvest of Souls" is convincing in atmosphere and satisfying in grit although certain points were too blatant in shock value.

Anachronisms exist within the story but the drama and relatable characters 3. Anachronisms exist within the story but the drama and relatable characters more than make up for them. The paranormal touch to the tale is tantalising and I'll be interested to see where a sequel might lead. Overall, Edmonston presents the reader with a thrilling plot which, despite suffering from long winded moments and a few a questionable writing choices, still delivers a satisfying ending.

Aug 06, Vikki Brand rated it liked it. I must say this book was different. Ending was not too shabby. The reason I gave this book such a low rating is the language. I myself don't like to read the c word or all the others. Now I know that this is what sells books. I would not mind reading works by C.

May 24, Jennie Akeson rated it it was amazing. Highway robbery Teist This is an exciting story with lots of action. You think one thing was about to happen then oops another path taken. Twists and turns I highly recommend reading this book. Nov 15, Gerald Anthony Dunphy rated it it was amazing.
