You will change your mind about Carlos. I hadn't heard of this book before. I'll have to look into it. But I agree with Katie that he sounds kind of like a jerk.
Hopefully the book talks about the relationship more so he comes off better: He comes off way better in the book. Without spoiling it for you, you'll change your mind. You might even shed tears This sounds like an interesting book, and you are right, I saw a bike on the cover and thought "nah Haha, this sounds like a funny book! Good for her for pushing herself. I barely have time to read blogs, and you keep giving me books to add to my to-read list.
One of the best books you've read all year? I'll have to pick it up!
I love the quotes! It was really good! I can't share too much or I'll ruin it for you Looks like a great book. I'm not at all offended by the title! This sounds like a great book! I'm adding it to my Christmas list right now: Ohhhh that sounds like a super good read!!! I'll have to check that out!! OK I'll read it. It's not the f'ck in the title is the 'go slow'.
That set me on my back foot, kind of like when someone says 'easy run' and you know damn well they have to work to hit that pace. Thanks for the review, I have been REALLY curious about this book but feared it was going to end up being some sort of humble brag about being a 'slow' runner in the front of the pack. Oh, but Beth, that's not what it's about at all Sounds like a great book and an awesome story! I love a nice quick ready, especially if it makes me chuckle!
Oh, you'll laugh and you'll cry. Such a good read.

I'll have to re-read it. I'm glad I read your review! I don't like the title. Not because I'm offended by the language, but by the insinuation that slow isn't as good as fast. Sometimes I like to go do, more time to enjoy what I love. May 22, Sam rated it it was ok Shelves: This is an amusing collection of short real-life stories of working life ranging from teachers and carers to bin-men and PAs. The stories are interesting and amusing and offer an insight into the different challenges faced by each and how they get through them.
The standard of writing is not always the best but these are written by a variety of people, who are not necessarily natural writers.
A good little collection all the same. Sep 21, Samantha rated it really liked it. A good quick read book. Some funny little tales and sad ones too. My personal favourites were don't put Barney in the bin bag. A brief history of typing and merry Christmas mrs maud. Sep 02, Fiona rated it liked it.
The foreword is well written and matched my expectations of the book - I may well seek out more from this author. Another book in the quick reads series that I am a big fan of making reading accessible regardless of time available or ability. A series of short stories from different individuals about their working lives this is easy to split into small chunks and is a good quick read - there is even a poem which I enjoyed.

Some stories aren't as well written as others and despite some humour and a few smiles this isn't a totally happy book.
Life's Too Short
Whilst on occassion it did make me stop and think this is not a deep reflection on the world of work. At the end of the day it is a short read and ideal for the time poor or those new to reading. The title only represents one story of the book. It's simple and yes, a quick read. Written by various people, some are not skilled writers so mind the writing styles. Some stories are really interesting some are so-so but my favourite are The Imaginary Letter and My Business Life as they summarized the whole journey of their working life and later made you ponder.
Mar 04, Razan rated it liked it. After reading a couple of books that was wrote specifically for non-English speaker. I need it to try reading other books that was not written for this reason. The stories were various: Generally, it was easy to understand the language.
Taking the Long Way Home: Book Review: Life's Too Short To Go So F*cking Slow
There were just two stories that I miss some of the details but I could keep up with the overall meaning. Jul 21, Em rated it it was ok Shelves: One of the "Quick Reads" series - this book is a collection of short stories about peoples working lives. It was ok, easy to read and I would say it serves its purpose as a shorter book that will get people into reading. However, I expected to gain a little more by way of insight or philosphy about the work place and overall the writing wasn't of a particularly high standard Val McDermid writes the forward only with entries from different writers.
This is as bad as picking up a book where an author starts preaching to you about their religion and has no place in a book. Life's Too Short to waste your time and money on this average collection of true life well there's one set in a school that I think is pure fiction work tales when there's much better books in the Quick Reads series to pass your time. I didn't realise that this book was part of the Quick Reads Collection I find that the Quick Reads are a waste of time..
